Suitability of MirrorSEAL for
Green Roof Applications
A MirrorSEAL roof has many virtues that make it particularly suitable for "green roof" applications.
First consider the roof installation itself
MirrorSEAL contains no VOC's or other carcinogens; it is safe to work with, requires no special tools and cleans up with water.
MirrorSEAL does not stink.
The components for a MirrorSEAL roof are packaged to be light and easy to handle.
MirrorSEAL makes a continuous, resilient and durable membrane that will expand and contract with the roof and will not crack.
MirrorSEAL is self-flashing. It can be run up and over parapets and sealed around ventilation systems, skylights etc. that protrude through the roof.
Consider the advantages for a "green roof" installation
MirrorSEAL is so environmentally friendly that it can be used in food processing areas. A MirrorSEAL roof will not contaminate water run off. This is a big advantage if rainwater is to be harvested.
A MirrorSEAL roof will reflect infrared radiation. The temperature on the roof should be close to the ambient temperature rather than 50°C+ that is common with some roofs in hot weather.
Roots will not penetrate MirrorSEAL.
MirrorSEAL works fine where water puddles or if it is constantly damp. It is suitable for lining sumps, ponds or tanks.
MirrorSEAL roofs have been in service in hot and cold climes for about 30 years.
You can feel comfortable about walking on a MirrorSEAL roof. You could use MirrorSEAL as a deck covering. If you want to use it in a high traffic area it may be advisable to use it in a 2 or 3 layer laminate.
MirrorSEAL will adhere to and protect concrete.
MirrorSEAL is a simple and effective way to repair other roof systems that have failed or to solve chronic leaking problems often associated with roof penetrations.
MirrorSEAL roofs are light, resilient, fire resistant and durable.
